The acronym BRC refers to a Borne de raccordement commune, which is French for a Joint Distribution Pedestal (JDP). This concept, originally developed by MCM, in collaboration with Hydro-Québec, Bell Canada and Videotron, allows for the grouping, in the lower part of a lamppost, all of connections for the power and telecom for the surrounding homes. There are today several thousands BRCs in service in the province of Quebec, in dozens of municipalities, namely in the regions of Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa River, Eastern Townships, and Center of Quebec.
